<lj:music>River of Dreams - Billy Joel</lj:music>

A lot of you probably have already seen or heard from me the reason that you lost power last night, but for those of you who have no clue what happened, I will tell you this cute little story in bullet point format.

-I'm quietly lying in bed and I hear two large crashes.
-My dad, grandmother, and I quickly look out the living room window and see...not much at all.
-My dad goes to check the wreckage, which by the way is a truck on its side that crushed our telephone pole.
-Dad sees an unharmed man scramble from the wreckage.
-From the dining room, I see the driver climb into another SUV that pulled over into our driveway, and they drive off.
-While I'm watching this, my dad is calling the police department.
-20 seconds after this I see a glowing from the top of the telephone pole that was hit. This strikes the thought that there is a fuckin' electrical fire right near my god damn house.
-Dad calls the fire department.
-While dad is on the phone, I'm watchin' the fire on the wires. All the sudden...BOOM.
-Power booms off, flickers on again, and then flicks right back off.
-So the phone still works so my dad finishes his call.
-Police, fire department, and PSNH all show up and get to work.
-Some point during this I go back to bed with flashing lights coming through my windows, so it's a little tough to get back to sleep.
-I wake up in the morning and PSNH is still here workin' on the new telephone pole (remember, the old one got demolished).

The End

I hope you enjoyed the power outage as much as I did, except for the fact that it sucked. <lj:music>Old Man Time - O.A.R.</lj:music>

So basically this trip was one of the greatest experiences of my life. There are too many things that I did to put into paragraphed sentences so I'll just do a million different bullet points.

-One 8 hour train ride to D.C. from Boston.
-Stayed in an old gym in a church.
-Met our awesome YSOP (Youth Service Opportunities Program) leader named John (I'm not gonna lie he was a tall and attractive man with long hair, but unfortunately he cut that wonderful hair half way through the week).
-Bagged 800 bags of vegetarian chile, beans, pears, mac and cheese, and granola bars at a food bank.
-Did lots of yard work for various people.
-Prepared a dinner for the homeless with the group (my job was to peel skin and fat off of chicken).
-Made friends with about 6 or 7 homeless, black men.
-Got really close with one of those men, who was named Kith. I heard his intense story of how he became to be homeless in D.C. and it was basically a life-changing story. The two of us also made Tricia drink a pitcher of ice water, which was entertaining.
-Played a long game of Ultimate with the group out on the Mall in front of the Washington Monument.
-Visited all 3 war memorials along with the Jefferson, Lincoln and the F.D.R. Memorials.
-Literally chopped a tub full of lettuce with one of my group leaders (Darrell Holigan).
-Had 4 excilator races with Darrell (my record was 1-0-3).
-Rode one of the hugest excilators ever (it took 2 minutes and 17 seconds to ride from end to end).
-Went to the National Zoo with the group and saw the giant pandas (they weren't really giant).
-For one night stayed in what may have been the nicest house in the D.C. area.
-Watched King Kong in said house.
-One 8 hour train ride back home.

Oh yeah, and somewhere in there, Jordan and I slept on top of the same sleeping bag all week and were covered by another sleeping bag. I'm pretty sure that may have been the highlight of the week for both Jordan and I (except it really wasn't for either of us, but it was right up there on the list).

And that, dear friends, is the amazing Service Trip of the 2006 to Washington D.C.!!!

This week has started out better than I thought it was going to be. I thought that I would be flooded with things to do, but I guess I'm catching a small break before the musical really gets goin'. The highlight of this week so far is the turtling of Mr. Switski's bag in da Stockbridge on Monday with the help of Mr. Gregory Bechtold. Neither of us had either ever turtled a bag before so it took us about 5 minutes to get it right. Luckily Eric was too busy to notice and the turtling job actually came out quite decent. Plus listening to my Dad's old college radio show from Vermont Tech is adding a little extra humor in my life right now.

Vacation has begun friends, and it has started with a huge bang of AWESOMENESS! I have Kerry to blame for that. Her movie night was sooooooo good. It started with James and I playing a nice quiet game of chess (which I ended up winning) and then escalated into Greg and I putting some serious smack down on people with radical moves. People didn't even see our moves coming. The main part of the party though was watching Rent, which I must say is a very emotional movie. I may have even sniffed a couple of times at the end. Pit orchestra is shaping up to be a super sweet time, and at the moment I am at my computer blasting sweet music and talkin' to sweet people. What a great start to a vacation.

Milli Vanilli was possibly the best thing ever on Thursday night. I'm pretty sure the Stockbridge was just about full with people waitin' for a sweet show. And those people got what they paid for. Our act was pretty much the best one there in my eyes. From "trash bag" jackets with aviators and awesome poses, to shiny jackets with sweet dance moves, we did soooooo well. We took second, but hey, it was such a sicked weet time.

Yesterday night was the Milli Vanilli party at the Sinitski household. This consisted of about an hour and a half of playing Mario games, about 20 minutes of eating, about 20 minutes of trying to figure out how plug in a video camera into a computer to watch our act, 5 minutes of actually watching the act (on the camera 'cause we never did get it hooked up), and about an hour of hockey.

Milli Vanilli = Love For All

It seems that after further examination with my parents and another ten dollar bill that the ten dollars I have should indeed be real. It's the same size, the security bar is in the same place, and the water color picture of President Hamilton is right. Tomorrow I will now go into Chemistry and demand that Breda take my ten dollars when I buy candy 'cause it is indeed real, and if he doesn't believe me, I'll just have to shove it down his throat and take my change.

So basically I'm buyin' candy from Breda today like the fat kid that I am, and the only bill in my wallet left is a 10. So I hand the bill to Breda and ask him, "You got change?" and for some reason like the queer man Breda is, he examines the 10 dollars and goes, "This isn't real." I am now thinking to myself, "WHAT THE FUCK!" and most of the class comes up and checks out the bill 'cause they're all sooooo interested.

Tony Morelli then says, "Dude, rip off a piece and lets burn it, it's supposed to turn red." So being the crazy kids Tony and I are, we run to the back of the room and grab some matches without asking Breda. When we burned it though, nothing really happened, it just burned. The class then came to the conclusion that I'm obviously a criminal. They also said that I should go out and use it anyway, but being the moral kid I am, I probably won't. Instead I'll have an empty wallet for a while.

Yeah, this semester feels like it may go by quite slow. All of my all-year classes are goin' pretty smoothly.

Economics with the Vac Meister seems to be shaping up to what may be a sweet class. Yesterday when he was going through the class and learning everyones names, he got to me and was like ,"Dan Fleury, hey, you know you look exactly like your brother?" and I said ,"Thanks."

So far Health with Miss Rioux is boring. Two days, and she hasn't taught us one thing yet. Today she barely even spoke to us, she just told us to do a survey and then do a chapters worth of questions in the book...unsweet.

Hopefully this semester goes better than I think it's going to.

And still left in the day is Brass Rehearsal at 4 o'clock and then my Trumpet Lesson right after at 5:30, so I won't be home 'til after 6. This is going to be fun.
